The Kintampo-Buipe Rice Processing Project is an active pilot program operating in Dawadawa No. 2 and the wider corridor spanning Kintampo North District in the Bono East Region and Central Gonja District in the Savannah Region. The corridor depends heavily on rain-fed agriculture, with rice serving as both a commercial and subsistence crop for rural households. Despite strong local production, high transport costs to distant mills, limited processing infrastructure, and poor milling quality have suppressed household income and undermined the competitiveness of locally produced rice in national markets.

CLRD is establishing a community mill in Dawadawa No. 2, bringing processing capacity directly to producing households. Operating on a fee-for-service model, the mill redirects costs households already bear closer to home while improving output quality through stone removal, polishing, and grading. The facility is owned by CLRD and managed by the community, building local operational capacity from the outset. The pilot runs across two harvest seasons, with the mill currently in transit to Ghana and community infrastructure underway.
